Almost 30 and entirely alone, meet Jude, the main character of Flour, Eggs, and Zombies, my new cosy horror x climate change novella. It’s been a year since the world ended, and the world ended on Jude’s 29th birthday. She’s on the cusp of turning 30 and utterly alone in a world of walking undead. The only thing that’s keeping her going is her wacky plan to find the means to bake a cake for her upcoming birthday.
‘I want to at least try to live, really live, before my heart stops beating. There’s no way for me to know if that’ll be tomorrow or twenty years from now, so why waste time?’

Jude: Terrestrial Ecologist & Hobby Baker
Before The End, Jude spent her days baking, hiking, and studying the effects of climate change on her local heathland and its inhabitants. Her closest friend in the whole world was Matty, but he’s been gone a while, for the longest time she’s been surviving alone and trying her best not to lose her mind entirely. She’s all about the little things in life. A good book, a cosy pair of socks, the beauty of a sunrise, and it’s that love that keeps her going even when most of the world is trying to eat her.
She’s a steadfastly determined woman who kind of saw this coming… well, not the zombies. But as an ecologist studying the devastating effects of climate change on local ecosystems, she knew it was only time before humans made the world unlivable. Thankfully, without humans at the top of the food chain, the rest of the world is starting to heal!
You can join Jude on her cake quest in Flour, Eggs, and Zombies, coming 23rd October!
Or, if you’re really eager, please consider joining the ARC team!
